The prophet Micah extends these blessings by affirming that true greatness lies in justice, kindness, and humility before God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Numbers 24:3<\/strong><br>\u05e0\u05b0\u05d0\u05bb\u05dd \u05d1\u05b4\u05bc\u05dc\u05b0\u05e2\u05b8\u05dd \u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05e0\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d1\u05b0\u05e2\u05b9\u05e8, \u05d5\u05bc\u05e0\u05b0\u05d0\u05bb\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05d2\u05b6\u05bc\u05d1\u05b6\u05e8 \u05e9\u05b0\u05c1\u05ea\u05bb\u05dd \u05d4\u05b8\u05e2\u05b8\u05d9\u05b4\u05df<br>Oracle of Balaam son of Beor, the word of the man whose eyes are opened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1967, a Dutch archaeological team uncovered at Deir Alla (in the Jordan Valley) an Aramaic inscription explicitly naming Balaam son of Beor. The text, written in black and red ink on a plastered wall<sup>[2]<\/sup>, begins as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>\u05db\u05ea\u05d1 \u05d1\u05dc[\u05e2]\u05dd \u05d1\u05df \u05d1\u05e2[\u05d5]\u05e8 \u05d0\u05d9\u05e9 \u05d7\u05d6\u05d4 \u05d0\u05dc\u05d4\u05d9\u05df<\/strong><br><em>\u201cText of Balaam son of Beor, man who saw the divine.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first section, Balaam predicts that darkness will fall upon the earth and cover the world, a reflection of the cosmic disorder caused by human impiety.<br>The second section, highly fragmentary, sketches an apocalyptic oracle announcing coming calamities, and concludes with a divine command forbidding Balaam to continue his prophecies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deir Alla, known as <em>\u201cTar\u02bfala\u201d<\/em> in the Jerusalem Talmud (Sheviit 2:3), was destroyed around 800 BCE, likely during the earthquake mentioned in Amos 1:1. Some scholars identify this site with the ancient Sukkot<sup>[3] <\/sup>in the territory of Gad, located east of the Jordan in the Jabbok Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em><sup>[1]<\/sup> <strong>Pethor <\/strong>is mentioned in Numbers 22:5 as located \u201cby the river\u201d (the Euphrates), probably in present-day northern Syria or southeastern Turkey.<\/em><br><em><sup>[2]<\/sup> The plaster <strong>fragments <\/strong>were found scattered across the southeast chamber floor of the sanctuary, mixed with pottery shards and debris.
