It addresses the laws of vows and recounts the war against Midian. It also describes the settlement of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh east of the Jordan. Then follow the listing of the 42 desert journeys, the rules for dividing the Land, the establishment of the cities of refuge, and the question of the inheritance of the daughters of Zelophehad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the haftarah, the prophet Isaiah portrays a messianic Jerusalem\u2014a source of peace and a center of universal worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Numbers 33:33<\/strong><br>\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05bc\u05e1\u05b0\u05e2\u05d5\u05bc, \u05de\u05b5\u05d7\u05b9\u05e8 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d2\u05b4\u05bc\u05d3\u05b0\u05d2\u05b8\u05bc\u05d3; \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b7\u05bc\u05d7\u05b2\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc, \u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05d9\u05b8\u05d8\u05b0\u05d1\u05b8\u05ea\u05b8\u05d4<br><em>They journeyed from Hor\u2011Hagidgad and camped at Yotvata.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This verse names <strong>Yotvata<\/strong><sup>[2]<\/sup> among the 42 stations of Israel\u2019s desert wanderings. When history takes root, the desert becomes fertile.<br>Kibbutz Yotvata was founded in 1957 by the Na\u1e25al movement<sup>[3]<\/sup>, near Ein Radian\u2014a major natural spring in the Arava Valley, 42\u202fkm north of Eilat\u2014adjacent to the ruins of a Roman fort.<br>From its inception, Yotvata established the regional school Ma\u2019aleh Shaharut<sup>[4]<\/sup>, which blends academic studies, environmental awareness, and civic engagement. The kibbutz also hosts a boarding program of Na\u2019al\u00e9<sup>[5]<\/sup>.<br>In the 1960s, an agricultural center combined geological and agronomic research, irrigation innovations, and greenhouse cultivation. Solar panels now supply much of the kibbutz\u2019s electricity, and wastewater is recycled for irrigation.<br>The Yotvata dairy<sup>[6]<\/sup>, founded in 1962, processes local milk into over forty products distributed throughout Israel.<br>Adjacent to the kibbutz, the Hai\u2011Bar reserve works to reintroduce biblical species to the Negev\u2014onager, oryx, gazelle, and hyena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em><sup>[1]<\/sup> <strong>Inyan ha\u2011yom \u2013 The subject of the day primes<\/strong><\/em>. When a special haftarah is prescribed (e.g., Rosh Chodesh, Hanukkah), it takes precedence over the regular weekly haftarah (Orach \u1e24ayim 425:1; Mishnah Berurah 425:7).<br><em><sup>[2] <\/sup><strong>Deuteronomy 10:7 <\/strong>calls Yotvata \u201ca land of flowing streams.\u201d Some commentaries link its name to the Hebrew root T\u2011V\u2011B (tov, \u201cgood\u201d).<\/em><br><em><sup>[3] <\/sup><strong>Na\u1e25al<\/strong> (No\u02bfar \u1e24alutzi Lo\u1e25em) \u2013 \u201cFighting Pioneer Youth,\u201d an IDF framework founded in 1948 to combine military service with founding agricultural settlements.<\/em><br><em><sup>[4] <\/sup><strong>Ma\u2019aleh Shaharut School <\/strong>serves about 600 students from the eleven communities of the Hevel Eilot Regional Council, including Yotvata.
