Tel Jericho<\/strong> is the site of the ancient city conquered by Joshua. Located near Tel Jericho, the Synagogue2<\/sup> Shalom Al Yisrael<\/strong> (Peace on Israel)<\/em> dates from the end of the 6th<\/sup> century century. The mosaic inscription at the entrance to the synagogue is a blessing for all members of the community. This blessing is crowned with 32<\/strong> (gematria of <\/em>\u05dc\u05d1 – heart)<\/em> circles<\/strong> (symbol of the unit)<\/em> and 32 squares<\/strong> (symbol of rigor)<\/em>. Red<\/strong> (emotion)<\/em> and green<\/strong> (logical)<\/em> hearts dot the rest of the mosaic. In the middle of the mosaic, a circle. In the center of this circle, a menorah<\/strong> (holiness)<\/em> flanked by a shofar<\/strong> (prayer)<\/em> and a lulav <\/strong>(unit)<\/em>. Below the menorah is the inscription \u05e9\u05dc\u05d5\u05dd \u05e2\u05dc \u05d9\u05e9\u05e8\u05d0\u05dc (Shalom Al Israel – Peace on Israel) and above, a parallelogram of colored squares surmounted by a semicircle, strangely resembles the plan of a synagogue with the ark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
